Insect Biology - Wood Destroying Pests

The purpose of this Applicator Recertification CEU course is to help familiarize pest management professionals with damage caused by wood destroying pests and to properly eliminate or minimize their negative effects.Go ahead and get started!

• Understanding the importance of knowledge about insect growth and development for the pest management program.
• Identifying the different types of termites and other wood-destroying insects and pests.
• Understanding the biology of termites, which includes the following: development, social structure and order, distribution, and role in nature. 
• Understanding the four main categories of termites and including the ability of being able to distinguish between them.
• Understanding the different termite castes, their specific role in the colony, and how to make a distinction among castes. 
• Understanding how termite colonies are created, what environmental conditions a colony requires in order to survive, and what the colony needs to do in order to maintain these conditions.
• Understanding the basic termite communication methods within the colony.
• Identifying the type of wood-destroying pest based on the signs and symptoms on damaged wood.
